Parish vicar Janet Anderson-MacKenzie could soon find herself drinking all the tea in China as she prepares for an unusual fundraising challenge.

She has agreed to drink 100 cups of tea in 100 different locations to raise much-needed funds for the Church of St John the Baptist, in Colerne, as it looks to provide new hospitality facilities.

She said: “I didn’t want to do anything dangerous, so I thought, ‘what is it I am good at?’, and I am really good at drinking tea.

“The challenge is to go to 100 different places in Colerne in a month as a way of involving the whole community. I am going to the Brownies and the nursery at the military camp, as well as people’s houses and some of the shops and the allotments in the village.”

The church is looking to raise £12,000 ahead of its 825th anniversary to build a wheelchair-accessible toilet and replace some doors.
