Golfers at North Wilts will be doing their bit for our Give Us A Chance appeal when Pete Davis takes over as captain in the autumn.

Mr Davis is a friend of Opportunity Centre treasurer Mark Roberts and has pledged to raise money for the cause during his year in office.

Mr Roberts said: “Pete has helped us at the centre in the past and been in to see what happens there so he knows how important the work is.”

Mr Roberts, who works for David Owen accountants in Devizes, has been treasurer for ten years and knows more than most how important fundraising is to the charity.

He said: “The publicity from the Gazette & Herald is making a massive difference and I think it will put the opportunity centre at the front of people’s minds when they are thinking about fundraising even when the appeal has finished.”

The next fundraising event is on July 5 in Rowde when a fete organised by the parish council will donate money to the cause.

The biggest event of all will be on July 26 when the Worton Fun Day with a dog show, exhibition of vintage cars and a circus skills workshop starts at 11am.
