Visitors can take a trip down the rabbit hole and discover a wonderfully wacky world when they visit Wilton Windmill on Saturday.

This year’s open day at the South West’s only working windmill has an Alice in Wonderland theme and youngsters and their parents are encouraged to come dressed as characters from Lewis Carroll’s classic fairytale.

Volunteers will also be in character, with teas and cakes being served at a Mad Hatters Tea Party and a there will be prizes for the best mad hat.

Flour, milled by Wilton Windmill from locally grown wheat, will be on sale, and Bedwyn Village Bakery will be selling a range of breads.

Entertainment will include Dr Radd’s Punch and Judy show, a bouncy castle, sack races, children’s games and finally the great tug-of-war.

As well as food and drink from local suppliers, visitors can enjoy live folk music.

The event runs from noon to 4.30pm.
