Mobile catering van owner Roy Messenger has come to the rescue of the organisers of the White Horse Challenge.

The organisers needed to find cooking facilities to make breakfasts for the walkers setting off on the second day of the challenge on July 6.

The event raises money for the Wiltshire Air Ambulance.

After a plea in the Gazette & Herald, Mr Messenger has offered his catering van, called The Italian Job Coffee.

It has been gratefully accepted by the organisers.

Mr Messenger, who lives in Calne, operates mainly at Pewsey Railway Station.

He said: “I do a lot of things for charity and I’m pleased to be able to help at the White Horse Challenge.

“The Wiltshire Air Ambulance is a good charity.”

Mr Messenger said he used to work in the NHS and has family members who work in the service as well.

Zoe Meaden, of co-organisers Monahans chartered accountants, said: “We are extremely grateful to Roy for his kind offer and the backing of his loyal customers who made him aware of our plight.

“It’s wonderful to see the local community coming together to back such a vital cause.”

Starting in Devizes the walk takes a circular route around seven of the White Horses of Wiltshire.
