Two charity events held at a Devizes pub proved to be a knockout success for our Give Us A Chance Appeal.

Alison Costello, landlady of The Dolphin, Devizes, handed over a cheque for £803 to the Devizes Opportunity Centre manager Betty Newman after the pub screened the big fight between Carl Froch and George Groves.

The fight night followed a family fun event at the pub the previous weekend which saw regulars taking part in pool and darts tournaments.

Devizes taxi driver Dave Malloy, who helped to organise both the fundraisers, said: “We are very pleased to support the opportunity centre.”

Two other fundraising events are being held on Saturday.

Townsend Nursery in Poulshot is holding a family fun and open day from noon to 3pm and Marlborough Youth Football Club is holding a tournament and other family attractions on The Common, Marlborough.

It is supporting the centre as Paddy, four, the son of U11s manager Mick Kerin goes to nursery.
