Police in Calne have arrested four people from Devizes in connection with two car thefts and a burglary on Monday night or Tuesday morning.

Officers suspect the group are linked to an incident in Horsebrook Park, when hedge cutters, a strimmer and wallet containing £4 were stolen from a Renault Kangoo.

They are also investigating the theft of a sat-nav worth £200 to £300 and a bracelet from a Skoda parked at Wessington Park on the same night.

A burglary at Wessington Park, when a TV and laptop computer were taken, is believed to be linked to the two car thefts. The TV was found dumped nearby, but the laptop is still missing.

Three men, aged 18, 25, and 33, have been arrested, as well as a 19-year-old woman. Police say inquiries are still ongoing.

Calne PCSO Mark Cook said: “We have had a series of break-ins to cars and a burglary.

“A caller reported suspicious people sitting in a vehicle outside an address. Those people were detained and arrested in connection with the offences.

“Although we have some nice hot weather at the moment, people need to be careful about leaving vehicles unlocked and windows open.

“If you go out for the day, make sure your house and vehicles are left secure to prevent any possible thefts.”

Police are keen to retrieve the laptop missing from Wessington Park, which contains material of huge sentimental value. To get in touch call 101.
