Police are investigating after a spate of catalytic converter thefts from residential streets off the A350 in north Melksham.

Seven thefts from vehicles were reported during the early hours of the morning between May 18 and 23. Areas targeted include Scotland Road, Addison Road, Foundry Close, Severn Road and Trent Crescent, as well as Eden Grove in Whitley.

PC Kane Fulbrook-Smith from the Melksham Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “This is a lucrative crime carried out by the thieves whilst causing inconvenience to the victims who quite often have an expensive repair bill.

“If anyone sees persons acting suspiciously around their vehicles they are advised to call the police 101 or 999 if a crime is in progress.”
