Sarsen gift to twin town

First published in News

DEVIZES mayor Sarah Bridewell undertook her first mayoral duties in Devizes’ twin town of Waiblingen during the annual twinning weekend.

Last Friday about 400 visitors, including 56 from Devizes, descended on Waiblingen in Germany. Jasper Selwyn, chairman of the Devizes Twinning Association, said: “We mingled with old friends from Waiblingen and Mayenne, and made new ones from Jesi in Italy, Baja in Hungary and Schmalkalden in Germany. “For Sarah Bridewell it was her first official engagement as mayor. She made a speech at the concert, unveiled a sarsen stone to represent Devizes, and laid a wreath at the war memorial.”
