A HALF Sarsen stone being shared with Devizes’ German twin town Waiblingen is likely to be installed at a prominent site on the entrance to the town.
At last week’s meeting of the town council’s community and civic resources committee, mayor Sarah Bridewell suggested the stone be erected on the green area at the foot of Belle Vue Road, which leads, appropriately, to Waiblingen Way.
Coun Bridewell said: “It will be quite safe there and be a feature at the entrance to the town centre.”
During last year’s twinning conference in Mayenne, France, the Waiblingen delegation asked if each of the twin towns would donate a piece of their local stone to be used as the centrepiece on a remodelled roundabout.
