End in sight for Devizes footpath upgrade on The Green

First published in News

WORK on upgrading the footpath across The Green in Devizes is almost finished.

The footpath is being changed to cater for cyclists as well as pedestrians and lighting has also been installed.

The work began in February and was due to take six weeks but Wiltshire councillor Philip Whitehead, portfolio holder for highways, said the work was delayed because The Green was too wet due to heavy rain.

He said: “Delaying it has caused more disruption and we understand that. Had we gone on The Green with heavy machinery when we were supposed to we would have ripped it to pieces.”
