Children were thrilled to see a fire engine at a charity fete organised by Sunny Days Pre-school in aid of youth cancer charity CLIC Sargent.

The fete, on April 11, raised £55 for the charity and £180 for the pre-school, with supporters paying for tables to sell jewellery, refreshments and cakes.

As well as the fire engine, youngsters enjoyed face painting, an Easter bonnet competition, and an Easter egg hunt around the pre-school’s woodland garden.

The preschool cares for 75 children between the ages of three and five and manager Tracey Willet said the day was well supported by local families.

She said: “The weather was gorgeous, it really did stay lovely.

“The children were having a good time with the hose. They were using the water hose and sitting on the fire engine.”
