Admin assistant Sarah Markley ran her first London Marathon in four hours 12 minutes in memory of her friend’s husband Paul Beament, who died of mouth cancer.

Miss Markley, 41, of Curzon Close, Calne, has raised more than £600 for the Mouth Cancer Foundation and said the event was overwhelming.

She said: “The last few miles were an absolute killer.

"The last mile was incredible, it was amazing to look round and see the crowds cheering.”
