Entrepreneur spirit growing in Marlborough
6:00am Friday 11th April 2014 in News
Youngsters will be sowing the seeds of success in Marlborough, as part of Waitrose Grow and Sell scheme.
Pupils from Ramsbury, Burbage, Pewsey Ogbourne St George and St Andrew primary schools have been given seeds to grow produce during the summer months.
The scheme, its second year, aims to inspire them to learn about where food comes from and develop entrepreneurial skills through selling the crops.
Each kit contains vegetable seeds, equipment, step-by-step growing instructions and badges, so children can designate roles for the growing and selling elements of the scheme.
Schools also get wildflower seeds to boost the number of bees and butterflies in their hedgerows.
Charles Bentley, a department manager at Waitrose in Marlborough, said: “Having seen the success of last year’s project, it brings us immense pleasure to be able to offer the Grow and Sell scheme to many more schools.
“We hope it will encourage children to choose to eat well and inspire entrepreneurial minds to flourish.”
