RAG week proved a huge success with Wiltshire College staff and students, raising £5,000 for charity.

The Chippenham campus raised a total of £560 for Dorothy House, with Level 3 engineering students Kelsey Hamblin and Sam Alsbury volunteering to get their legs waxed.

Sam, 18, said: “I didn’t realise how painful it would be. I’m trying not to show it though in front of everyone!”

They were joined by sport lecturer Paul Turner, who agreed to take part if the campus could raise £200.

He said: “This is the first time I have ever had it done and although it did start okay, my legs are quite sore.”

Dozens of staff and students watched on in the Cove Theatre and student liaison officer Bea Lilley said she was thrilled that the event raised £250, more than the total for last year’s entire Rag Week.

She got the most votes this year to be the victim of the staff gunging.

The Lackham campus raised more than £840 for the Cystic Fibrosis trust, with a mini bus cram, barbecue, sports day, welly toss competition, duck race, movie night and film character themed fancy dress party.
