This year’s Tytherton Ride raised £6,000 for village churches and halls, as well as Wiltshire Air Ambulance and Christian Malford Primary School.

The ride, with more than 45 cross-country fences, attracted 300 participants and was sponsored by estate agents Chesterton Humberts.

Bad weather meant most routes were around the village of Bremhill, but rain held off, allowing riders and stewards to return home dry.

A number of well-known event riders came, including British eventer David Doel, from Reybridge.

Mr Doel, who was training young horses, arrived fresh from his win at Belton International Horse Trials.

Ride chairman Ian James said: “I would like to thank all the land owners and stewards who make this day possible and a special thanks to the committee.”
