Man arrested as counterfeit goods seized in Chippenham house raid
4:20pm Tuesday 1st April 2014 in News
A large amount of goods, believed to be counterfeit and including perfume, toys, handbags and jewellery, were seized by police and Trading Standards officers in Chippenham yesterday.
The two agencies teamed up to execute a warrant at a house in Neeld Crescent shortly after 9:30am.
Once inside a large amount of goods were located and seized, and a 36-year-old man was arrested for offences under the S92 of the Trade Marks Act.
The man was subsequently bailed to a date in May pending further enquiries.
Community beat Manager PC Sarah Pulman said: "Counterfeit goods sold on our streets may appear to be a bargain buy but they are often untested, unregulated and more worryingly, unsafe."
Anyone with any information about this type of crime or who suspects goods they may have purchased could be counterfeit are encouraged to report this to police on 101 or to their local Trading Standards Service.
