Captain Corelli author to open Marlborough LitFest 2014

Novelist Louis de Bernières will open Marlborough’s annual LitFest this year.

The author, best known for Captain Corelli’s Mandolin, has been announced as the 2014 Golding author, named in honour of local writer William Golding.

Mr de Bernières published his first novel in 1990 and was selected by Granta magazine as one of the 20 Best of Young British Novelists in 1993.

Since then he has become well-known, winning the Commonwealth Writers’ Prize for Best Novel in 1994.
