The stylish students of Devizes School raised over £1,100 towards their forthcoming expedition to Kenya through a fashion show in the school’s main hall last week.

Pupils, staff and workers from six fashion stores in the town took to the catwalk for the event which was a sell-out with over 120 tickets sold.

Clothes were from Cielo Blu, Spirit, The Wardrobe (Devizes), Upper Cut Clothing, New Look and Mistral.

Headteacher Malcolm Irons took part, saying: “I was pleased to be asked to be part of the show and glad to be able to support such a fantastic cause.”

Thirteen sixth formers have been working for 18 months to raise money to pay for their trip in July, when they will work on community projects in rural villages near Nairobi.

Each pupil needs £4,000. The show was the latest fundraiser and others are a bag packing at a town supermarket and a barn dance in Patney on June 7. They are hoping to bring the total to £10,000.
