The Chippenham mayor’s masked ball has raised about £1,000 for the children’s centre charity the Rise Trust.
About 80 people brought glitz and glamour to the town hall on Saturday night, dancing to 1960s music provided by party singer Michael Brown from Gloucester.
Guests included town council chief executive Sue Wilthew, the Royal British Legion, Sea Cadets, Awdry, Bailey and Douglas solicitors and Dennis Phillips, who won a competition to be Chippenham’s town crier in December.
Mayor Sylvia Gibson said: “It was fantastic to see the town crier in full regalia and Michael Brown was absolutely fabulous. The dance floor was always full.”
She was also joined by the mayors of eight other towns across Wiltshire.
