Morph into a filmmaker this Easter with Aardman and The Big Lunch

Morph, one of Aardman’s oldest and best loved animated characters, is lending his support to The Big Lunch this spring and to celebrate, a competition has been launched to find the best of new talent in the world of animation.

The Big Lunch - the UK’s annual get together for neighbours - is challenging all young people aged between seven and 15 to create a one minute animation showing what Morph could bring to their Big Lunch.

A Big Lunch can be any size and can be held anywhere people can get together - the key ingredients are food, friendship and fun.

Judges will be short-listing films based on the most original and creative ways entrants depict Morph enjoying himself at his very own neighbourly get-together rather than on technical ability.

The winning film will not only become the official advert for The Big Lunch 2014, but the winner will also receive a private workshop for them and up to 10 friends with one of Aardman’s own professional model makers.

Three runners up will win an exclusive Big Lunch goody bag, including animation software ‘Animate it!’, Aardman’s Cracking Animation book and a Morph DVD, piggy bank and keychain.

The Big Lunch is an idea from Cornwall's Eden Project made possible by The Big Lottery Fund.

The event, which takes place on June 1 this year, provides the perfect recipe for neighbours to have fun, feed community spirit and help build stronger neighbourhoods.

The Morph competition is open to both individuals and youth groups, such as Scouts, Guides, and after-school clubs, in two different age groups: seven – 12 years old and 12 – 15 years old.

The judges will shortlist the top four creative films in each category and then the public will be able to vote for the overall winner.

To enter, animators need to upload their video on to YouTube and send the link to: info@thebiglunch.com by 5pm on April 21.
