Mum-of-two Sarah Green, who grew up in Chippenham, is undertaking a year of fundraising in memory of four family members who died of cardiomyopathy.

Mrs Green, 39, who is a former pupil of Sheldon School and lives in the Wirral, will return to Wiltshire for the Bowood 10k on March 30.

She will be joined on the run by the widow and daughter of her brother Andrew Golding from Calne, who died aged 34 three years ago.

Siobhan Golding, 33, and Holly, eight, along with Mrs Green’s father Derek Golding, husband Michael and sons Benjamin, 13, and Matthew, nine, will all be wearing cardiomyopathy T-shirts in the race in the grounds of Bowood House.

Mrs Green also lost her mother Joan from Chippenham, uncle Richard Edgell from Corsham and cousin Billy Jones from Chippenham to the disease, which often goes undiagnosed. Mrs Green’s brother died in his sleep while her other family members collapsed during the day and died. She has been tested and does not have the disease.

She said: “I am going to be 40 this year and I wanted to do something for the association. I started in November with a head shave and since then I have done a santa fun run, cake sale and bag pack.”

She has a number of other runs and sponsored events planned but her year will culminate in a walk along the Great Wall of China.

Mrs Green, who works for another charity as a fundraiser is paying for all her own costs for the events.

She hopes to raise £5,000. While she is in Chippenham, she will hold a cake sale outside her father’s home at 27 Coniston Road from 10am to 1pm on March 29.
