A total of £6,450 was given out in grant funding at a Pewsey Area Board meeting.

The largest grant was given to Burbage Pre-school, which applied for £2,000 for an all-weather pitch for its outdoor play area.

The play area has a grass surface but the pre-school want to replace it with an all-weather pitch so that the children’s use of the space is not limited in winter months.

The project will cost a total of £4,616 and the pre-school will be fundraising to make up the £2,616 shortfall.

Pewsey Primary School was successful in securing a £1,500 grant which will be used towards transport for young people to access activities in neighbouring towns.

The service will cost £3,000 to run and the remaining funding will come from the £1 return fare charged and money left in the Extended Schools budget.

Five applicants received £500; Great Bedwyn Parish Council towards tree planting at The Wharf, Great Bedwyn Village Hall for new tables and Milton Lilbourne Parish Council for a digital projector.

North Newnton Parish Council and Woodborough Parish Council will use the £500 towards a defibrillator system.

The last £450 was given to Shalbourne Village Hall towards the refurbishment which will include decorating, a new door and new rear gate.

The Pewsey Area Board was allocated a £49,132 budget for community area grants in the last financial year and has £1,000 left.

It is considering giving this money to a dementia art group in Pewsey who need £4,000 to keep the scheme running for an entire year.
