Bowood’s next guest author tea will feature Andrew Davidson, who will speak about his grandfather’s life during the First World War.
Mr Davidson is the author of Fred’s War: A Doctor in the Trenches, based on the experiences of ancestor Fred Davidson of the Royal Army Medical Corps.
When Fred left for France in August 1914, cameras were banned from the frontline but he brought a folding camera and secretly documented life in the trenches.
The pictures remained in the family and can be seen by the public for the first time in Andrew Davidson’s book.
The tea talk is on March 27, at 3.30pm. Tickets are £17.50. To book, call (01249) 822228 or for details visit www.bowood.org/events.
Bowood re-opens on April 1 with a display detailing the estate’s wartime experience.
