The location of six new CCTV cameras in Marlborough High Street was discussed at the town council meeting on Monday.
In January the town council commissioned Alert Systems Ltd, based in Trowbridge, to install a system that includes facial and number plate recognition. The system falls within the agreed £25,000 budget.
Camera locations have now been agreed after input from the town council, police and Chamber of Commerce. The council may also need to get planning permission because all of the buildings along the High Street are listed. It is hoped that the new system will be in place in the next two to three months.
