Devizes town councillors have thanked the Friends of Hillworth Park for their hard work as they wind down following the renovation of the park.
The “friends”, who helped the town council hold a programme of events after Lottery funding of £1.5million was won for the renovation, want to give their remaining funds to tree planting.
Tuesday’s town council recreation and properties committee was told: “On January 19 the Friends held an emergency meeting to discuss the way forward.
“It was felt that the Friends’ role had come to a natural end and most of their objectives had been achieved.”
It was agreed that funds from membership and fundraising should go back in the park and a reminder of their work in the form of a circle of trees – winter cherry, rowan, birch, or maple – would be ideal.
If funds allow, a clock would also be installed in the park centre.
