International poet and speaker Bridie Nelson will present some of her poems in Potterne on Monday.

Potterne Springs WI is holding a poetry by candlelight evening from 8pm to 10pm at Wiltshire Scout Centre, Potterne Wick.

Bridie, who lives in Hampshire, will be telling her life story interspersed with a selection of poems by candlelight over tea and cake.

She creates poems inspired by everyday life events, emotions and the countryside. She was shortlisted for the 2013 Women Inspiring Women Awards and is known as ‘the fundraising poet’ for her work for charities.

The WI group will also be running a poetry competition and is inviting people to submit entries for judging by Bridie.

The topic for the poem can either be on the Wiltshire town/village where you live or about Women’s Institutes.
