Devizes Town Council is asking for nominations of community heroes for its annual Civic Awards.

The awards are presented to people who deserve recognition for the hard work and effort they carry out to improve the community.

There are four types of awards.

The environmental award is for individuals, voluntary groups, business/organisations who have made an improvement to the natural or built environment in Devizes (within the parish boundaries), for example: improvement of open space; re-use of derelict land; or refurbishment of buildings.

Service to the people award is for individuals who have helped to improve the quality of life for people in Devizes.

The community award is for groups who help their community or individuals in Devizes and the long service award is for people who have worked for the same Devizes company for 40 years or more.

The deadline for nominations is April 4 and the entries are judged by an independent panel.

Entry forms are available from Elanor Oddy at the town hall, St John’s Street, by calling 01380 722160 or on the town council’s website.
