Climatic conditions last night made the Northern Lights, or Aurora Borealis, visible all over Britain and it was even spotted at Roundway Down, near Devizes, by photographer Pete Glastonbury and his daughter Sammy.

Mr Glastonbury said: “There has been a big display over a lot of the UK, the first time for about 20 years.

“A moderate G2-class geomagnetic storm was caused by a glancing impact of a Coronal Mass Ejection from the Sun yesterday.

“Sammy and I managed to get a photo of the display, which was quite spectacular.”
