Laura Self, 25, of Trowbridge, and Rebecca Wilkins, 24, of Melksham, set up a Facebook page, “Somerset we are here to help donation group”, to appeal for donations for people who had lost everything when water indundated their homes.

Staff at D S Smith saw the appeal and contacted the two women, offering a 800 cardboard boxes in which to deliver the aid.

Employee Matt Rose said: “We got in contact with Laura and Rebecca and, as a local business, we were happy to help and support a very good cause.

“Managing director Steve Hinton was more than happy to help the cause and a small team at Devizes, Matt Hulland and Alan Dickinson, got in contact with the organisation.”

Mr Rose and his colleague Les Szgmanski delivered a lorry load of cardboard boxes to the homes of the two women, essential to pack up all the donations for delivery to the flood-hit area.
