A tree has fallen across the stretch of canal between Pewsey and Manningford Bruce and is blocking the route.

The Canal and River Trust is working with the landowner to have the tree removed and hope that this stretch, near to bridge 115, will be clear by the start of next week.

A spokesman for the trust said: “Part of the problem is that the area around the tree is waterlogged so it is difficult to get to the site.

“Usually we can remove fallen trees quickly but the volume of trees down at the moment is quite high because of the bad weather.”
