Film and TV students from Wiltshire College were given a special mention at the Royal Television Society’s student awards.

The team behind In The Know, a 24-hour charity telethon produced at Chippenham last June, was praised for its ambition and commitment.

The mammoth production raised nearly £900 for Wiltshire Air Ambulance.

Judges Charlie Bingham, director at Icon Films, and Alex Griffiths, series producer of BBC Natural History Unit, made the special mention at the Watershed in Bristol on February 11.

Mr Bingham said: “It was a hugely ambitious undertaking and we thought you did an amazing job.

“I can’t even begin to imagine how complicated and stressful it was to organise – a big well done to all of you.”

Wiltshire was the only college to receive a mention at the awards ceremony, which was dominated by entries from universities.

Wiltshire College students also networked with industry professionals, including event sponsors Big Bang Post Production.

Conor Shutler, who was one of the production team for In The Know 24, said: “I’m incredibly proud of what we did and the fact the Royal Television Society recognised our achievement put the icing on the cake. It was also a great night, reliving memories from the project.”
