An intrepid bunch of Chippenham Ramblers braved the conditions for a seven-mile figure of eight walk above Box on February 9 led by Clive Frankham.
The group headed across Box Common and into the woods, emerging to views across Box itself.
The route headed through Hazelbury Manor and onwards to Chapel Plaister, where the ramblers were pleased to see that the previously overgrown path into the next field path had been cleared.
A small diversion was added at this point for those wishing to see the monument erected to the explorer John Hanning Speke.
The return to the cars took ramblers across the runway at Wadswick and past the former assault course at Rudloe, mostly in good weather but which ended during the refreshments break.
The next Chippenham Ramblers' walk is on Sunday, February 23, and is a four-mile walk from Bremhill, taking in Maud Heath’s monument and Bencroft Hill.
