More than 400 Air Cadets will parade through Marlborough on Sunday as the town’s Air Cadets 2293 Squadron host the Wiltshire Air Training Corps (ATC) annual Wing Parade.
The parade will mark the 73rd anniversary ATC which formed in February 1941 and is especially important to Marlborough Air Cadets this year as they celebrate their 60th anniversary.
The parade will start at George Lane car park at 2pm and head to the High Street, which will be closed for about 15mins to allow the marchers safe access, and finish at St Mary’s Church.
In the High Street a salute will be taken by Wing Commander Vanessa Toth, Officer Commanding Dorset Wilts Wing, accompanied by the Mayor of Marlborough, Guy Loosmoore and his wife Fiona.
The cadets and staff will then attend a special service at St Mary’s Church starting at 2.30pm, after which there will be a reception at the town hall.
Wing Commander Toth said: “ATC Sunday is a very special day for everyone in the Air Cadet organisation.”
“It is our opportunity to show everyone the high standards that cadets achieve and we hope that many people will come along to watch our parade and encourage the cadets.”
