Sutton Benger residents have raised £2,048 for armed forces charity Help for Heroes through a sold-out evening of live music at the village hall on January 25.

The event was put on using a £400 donation from builders Redrow, who have just bought land to expand new development The Park estate in the village with 21 more homes.

Skies on Fire warmed up the crowd for headline act The Bridge, a Sutton Benger band playing popular hits.

Colonel Andy Stewart outlined how Help for Heroes supports those wounded in war and their families.

Organiser Rob MacNevin said: “We were thrilled with the generous donation from Redrow, which enabled this event to be such a success. We are delighted that such a large company is willing to support this local community event, for the benefit of our armed services.”

Libby Bolton, area sales manager for Redrow South West, said: “Community is at the heart of everything we do and we are proud to be able to support Help for Heroes, who do so much fantastic work across the country.

"The evening was a great way to bring local residents together, whilst raising money for a worthy cause.

“We look forward to supporting similar events in the future.”
