Devizes NHS Treatment Centre has passed a national quality audit with flying colours.

The centre, in Marshall Road, received a routine inspection from the Care Quality Commission (CQC), the independent regulator of all health and social care services in England.

The CQC inspector passed the centre on all five core standards:

• Treating people with respect and involving them in their care.

• Providing care, treatment and support that meets people’s needs.

• Caring for people safely and protecting them from harm.

• Staffing.

• Quality and suitability of management.

The centre is operated by Care UK, a leading independent provider of health and social care services, and services are commissioned by the local NHS.

The centre provides treatments across a wide range of services including dental surgery, ear nose and throat procedures, endoscopy, general surgery, gynaecology, joint replacements (outpatient assessment only), minor orthopaedic surgery, ophthalmology and urology.

The CQC inspector’s report praised the centre, saying: “Patients we spoke with told us they were highly satisfied with the service.

"One person said 'they’ve done a brilliant job. It’s a good service.' Another told us 'it’s utterly positive (the experience). I can’t see how they can make it any better.'

"We saw from people's comments on the NHS choices website people had rated the service a maximum of five stars and had provided very favourable comments.

"People told us they were kept well informed of the treatment and care they would receive.”

Centre manager Kevin Walsh, of Care UK, said: “We are pleased to have passed this important inspection and delighted with the comments from the inspector.

"The inspector’s conclusions are testimony to the dedicated work of the entire team.”

Care UK provides more than 50 primary care services including GP and walk-in services, out-of-hours, diagnostics centres, clinical assessment and treatment services and prison health services. It also runs 11 hospitals that specialise in elective, planned surgery.
