The A3102 Sandridge Hill near Melksham has now been reopened after a head-on collision this morning.
A woman suffering multiple fractures was trapped in a blue Peugeot 306 halfway up the hill, after her car collided head-on with a silver Toyota RAV4 at around 7.50am.
She was cut free from the wreckage by firefighters and has since been taken to Frenchay Hospital near Bristol by road ambulance.
The road was been closed between the New Road junction in Melksham and the A342 Devizes Road junction in Bromham, and was reopened around midday.
Two weeks ago on Friday, January 17, the road was closed for more than five hours after a Corsa collided with a pick-up truck on the road.
The driver of the Corsa, 19-year-old Melksham agriculture student Luke Dark, was airlifted to Frenchay Hospital with severe injuries, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.
