Chippenham pupils learn street dance
10:00am Sunday 2nd February 2014 in News
Hip hop dancer Banxy visited pupils from Hardenhuish School in Chippenham to teach them some new moves.
He was brought in to give the school’s Xtreme boys dance company a master class in street dance as they prepared for the Great Big Dance Off Competition, which is being staged at the Wyvern Theatre in Swindon on March 31.
Banxy, whose real name is Richard Banks, has appeared on Top of the Pops, MTV and on George Michael’s Spinning The Wheel music video.
Hardenhuish dance teacher Tammy Spalding had met Banxy at Swindon Dance and organised for him to work with boys from Year 7 and 8 who make up Xtreme.
The dancers, who have only been together a year, earned their place at the Wyvern dance competition after being selected from 48 other groups. The winner of the regional heat will take part in a national final.
The boys will also be performing at Hardenhuish School’s annual dance extravaganza Spring Loaded from April 1-2.
