The birth of photography was celebrated in Lacock last weekend, with a show illuminating the abbey’s cloisters – which runs to February 9.
This second Illuminating Lacock display was themed this year for the 175th anniversary of inventor Henry Fox Talbot’s first image of the abbey’s window.
The photography pioneer developed the first negative photographs at the abbey. The window featured in his original images takes pride of place in the display.
Abbey spokesman Kristine Heuser said: “It has gone really well... it was a great way to celebrate the anniversary last Saturday. They have done a great job setting it up.
“The fact that you can see it in the evening as well adds a really special atmosphere to the whole place.
“On Saturday night some of the staff came out and it was beautiful, and there were a lot of people there with cameras who were very positive about it.
