Devizes funeral director John Stuart is continuing to collect donations of food for Devizes Food Bank.

The company, which has a branch in The Brittox, started collecting for the charity in the run-up to Christmas but has decided to carry on due to overwhelming support from the community.

Funeral director Paul McDonald said: “Not a day has gone by since we launched the campaign that we haven’t had someone coming into the branch with a donation, whether it’s been one tin of beans or a shopping bag full of groceries.

“We have been overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity of local people and we’ve received an incredible amount of donations, with enough to feed a dozen families before Christmas and many more since then.

“We’ve been delighted to be able to support Devizes Food Bank during such a demanding time of the year.

“We want local people to remember that the food bank still needs regular donations.

“Therefore we are extending our campaign and are still very happy to accept donations at our branches.”

Other permanent collection points are in Morrisons and Sainsbury’s supermarkets in Devizes.
