Firefighters cut a woman from her car after an accident caused by ladders lying on the A350, which saw police close the southbound carriageway for over two hours.
The accident happened on Monday just after 10am when the ladders fell off a Ford pickup van travelling on the A350 towards Chippenham.
The driver parked to retrieve the ladders, but at the same time a woman driving a Peugeot 206 tried to avoid them and crashed into the back of the pickup van.
Police closed the southbound carriageway until 12.26pm so that firefighters could cut the woman free and the road could be cleared.
She was taken to the Royal United Hospital, Bath, by an ambulance to be treated for minor neck and leg injuries.
The man was arrested for driving with an insecure load and investigations continue.
