Ten local Girl Guide units took part in a parade service at which the Rev Canon Thomas Woodhouse dedicated new standards which incorporate Wootton Bassett’s royal title.

The three Rainbow units received standards for the first time, and the four Brownie units and three Guide units presented their former standards, which had been folded and were then ceremonially laid up for permanent safe keeping within St Bartholomew’s Church.

“This is a historic occasion,” said Canon Woodhouse.

“Carry your new standards with pride in all that they represent, As members of Girlguiding, you make an extraordinary contribution to the life of our community.”

Hymns were chosen by the girls and the service concluded with the national anthem.
