Commuters are facing severe delays this morning following a serious accident on the M4 involving five vehicles.
The M4 has been closed eastbound between Junction 15 at Swindon and Junction 14 near Hungerford after an accident involving loose horses approximately two hours ago.
A Wiltshire Police spokesman said several horses had made their way on to the carriageway near Membury, causing one car to swerve and flip.
Police say the motorway has now reopened after they moved swfitly to clear away debris and carry out repairs.
As a result of the accident traffic is very heavy on the A420 and A419, the weight of traffic is causing queues to build up all the way back to the Greenbridge roundabout.
Another crash at Mannington roundabout on the Great Western Way is causing further delays for drivers coming in to Swindon from Junction 16 this morning.
