A 17-year-old from Chippenham suffered a broken nose, fractured eye socket and fractured cheekbone after being assaulted in Calne on Friday night.

Police were flagged down by members of the public shortly before midnight on Friday after they found the victim sitting on the footpath along Abberd Brook near the top of the Co-op car park.

An ambulance had already been called and the victim was taken to Swindon’s Great Western Hospital where he received treatment for his injuries before being allowed home later that day.

At this stage officers are still trying to establish the series of events that took place and are asking anyone who saw any individual/s in and around the area mentioned at the time stated to contact them on 101.
