Schoolchildren in Corsham are celebrating, after netting a bumper crop for a local farm.

Last year the Year 8 pupils at The Corsham School raised £1,700 for Jamie’s Farm, a Box charity giving under-privileged children a taste of the great outdoors.

Teacher Emma Fairbairn, assistant head of Year 8, said: “Each tutor group planned, organised and ran an event of their choice.

“We had an Easter goodies sale, sponsored silence, a fun run and a cake sale at parents’ evening, and we raised the most we have ever raised.

“We always collect for a children’s charity, and they chose Jamie’s Farm as they wanted something local.

“Katie from the farm came into school and showed a presentation of what they do.

“She brought a lamb in with her, which the children loved, and we went down to the farm for an afternoon where they met Jamie, which was lovely, as they could see where the money was going.”
