Devizes Town Council has agreed a policy for nominations of honorary freemen of the town.
Nominees must have made an exceptional contribution to the community.
The nominations will go to a meeting of the full council and once the honour is bestowed recipients will, in perpetuity, be the council’s guest at all significant civic events.
Coun Ian Hopkins said: “Before, we always had this system on a very ad hoc basis and now we have a procedure which we can all adhere to.”
