A musical trio from Malmesbury has released a free Christmas single as a thank you to their home town.

The powerful, acoustic cover of 2,000 Miles by The Pretenders is the brainchild of Neil Muttock, organiser of Malmesbury Acoustic Sessions, as a thank you to the community for supporting the series of acoustic gigs held at the King’s Arms, High Street.

The single features the tones of vocalist and guitarist Ami Kaelyn, accompanied by a guitar, tambourine and ‘stomp’ ensemble from Mr Muttock and Fiona Craig, who is a member of the newly formed community choir.

Mr Muttock, who plays alongside Miss Kaelyn in local band The Home Fires, said: “A friend of mine, Fiona Craig, asked me for a backing track for this song for a solo she was doing.

“I got together with Ami to work on it and we ended up really loving it, so we finished it off and decided to give it away to Malmesbury as a Christmas present.”

The single can be heard via malmesbury-acoustic- sessions.co.uk/and is downloadable from https://sound cloud.com/#malmesbury acoustic/ ami-kaelyn-2000-miles “Ami is a great vocalist. I’ve done a lot of work with her before,” added Mr Muttock, who is also involved in organising Sherstonfest.

“We started recording the music knowing that Fiona just needed it as a backing track but we ended up making a bit more out of it and turned it into a nice Christmas single.

“We’ve had some interest from BBC Wiltshire and BBC Introducing but it’s a Christmas present to our supporters really.’’
