Excited children at Moonbeams Pre-school in Kingsley Road, Chippenham, were whizzing around the playground shortly after taking delivery of four balance bikes.
The pre-school bought the bikes after receiving a generous £750 donation from The Chippenham Harriers who made the money by selling tickets for this year’s half-marathon.
They were supplied by Cycology, in New Road, Chippenham, and unlike normal bikes they have no pedals, making it easier for the children to ride them.
The pre-school has been running for more than 30 years. Play manager Alison Walker said: “We couldn’t believe how much we were going to receive. For a small playgroup that was a huge amount of money. We have been looking to increase our equipment for physical play.
“We haven’t had any balance bikes before.
“The children were very excited about them. It’s been quite an exercise in sharing and taking turns.”
