Wiltshire Council planners granted planning permission for a new sports hall at St Mary's School tonight.

The sports hall application was called in to be discussed at tonight's northern area planning meeting by division member Tony Trotman.

He took this decision after hearing concerns from residents over the size of the building and its impact on the neighbouring cemetary.

Coun Trotman said: "The latest plans show a reduction of the footprint has taken place, but little has been done to reduce the height and to omitigate the impact on the listed boundary wall.

"It will have an impact not only on the cemetery and the new remembrance garden but also on the residential dwellings."
