Daisy Matthews, home manager at Athelstan House, Malmesbury, has been recognised for her high standard of service to care home residents.

She received a commendation awards at the Order of St John Care Trust Chairman’s Awards.

Mrs Matthews, who lives in Chippenham and has been manager since 2009, was recognised for ‘being a strong, motivated and animated leader who strives to meet all objectives’.

In a speech read out about Mrs Matthews at the awards in Lincoln Cathedral, the trust said she ‘is passionate and dedicated to establishing efficient and well-led services throughout the home’.

She said: “It’s very humbling to win this when there are many many people in the trust who work very hard.”

Ridgeway House in Royal Wootton Bassett won the John Monckton Memorial Prize for commitment to improving care practices for residents. The prize, in memory of a trustee, is awarded to recognise improvements in the ways the trust cares for its residents.
