Chippenham super slimmer’s meeting with star
8:30am Saturday 19th October 2013 in News
Chippenham super slimmer Sarah Turner is feeling on top of the world after a former Westlife singer congratulated her on shedding more than eight stone.
Miss Turner, 36, met Brian McFadden at a national slimming contest earlier this month, where he said she looked great after she dropped from 20st 6lb to 12st.
She was one of just 58 women from across the UK and Ireland to reach the finals of Woman of the Year 2013.
Miss Turner, who lives in Rowden Hill, made her drastic lifestyle change when she joined the Chippenham Slimming World group in January 2011.
Her transformation inspired members of the group to vote for her as their representative in this year’s competition.
Candy Neale, who runs the Chippenham group, said: “Sarah is unrecognisable from the shy, unhappy woman who walked into the group all those months ago.
“She’s happier, healthier and more confident, and her success is contagious as she’s inspired so many other people in the group.”
Mr McFadden, of Irish boyband fame, reached the finals of ITV dance show Stepping Out this year.
He said: “Stepping Out was a completely new challenge for me, and it showed me that it’s never too late to try something different.
“Sarah is proof of that too, by making changes to her eating habits and getting active she’s obviously completely changed her life – and she looks great on it.”
Miss Turner said the key to her success was making small changes, such as swapping white bread for wholemeal, that did not leave her feeling deprived.
She said: “I’d tried losing weight before but I always failed miserably because the diets I followed would leave me feeling hungry.
“If ever my motivation did start to fade, my consultant and the rest of the group were there to remind me how far I’d come.”
